Masjid Defense

As a self-professed software nerd, I looked at several low cost online options for a technology stack to manage the Security Team. I’ve tried and considered Google’s G Suite, Slack, Airtable, and others. I couldn’t find a single solution that provided everything I need at a low cost. So I decided to build one. I’m willing to offer it to other Masjids for free, if you would like to use it. Please contact me at masjiddefense at gmail dot com if you would like to try it out.

The website is still in its early stages, but it is functional and in use. Your email must be registered in the system in order to use it. Once you log in you have access to the following three areas (for now; more will be added later):

Incidents

The website enables members of the security team to log incidents and attach any number of photos to incident logs. The team member can log the title of the incident, its location, its date and time, details, information on involved parties, injuries, as well as the police and medical response. The main incident list page is shown below.

Guns

Security Team members who own guns should register their firearms on the website. These guns will also be referenced when a team member adds a Shooting Training Log (see below).

Shooting Training Logs

In order for a member of the security team to carry a firearm at the masjid three conditions must be met:

  1. The Masjid Shura should permit the Security Team member to carry a firearm. The Shura may permit or deny a member at their discretion.
  2. The Security Team member should have taken the necessary training required to apply for a concealed carry permit.
  3. The Security Team member must train with the weapon at a gun range at least once every two weeks.

The website allows Security Team members to log their Shooting Training sessions at the Gun Range. They will have to specify which gun(s) they trained with, what ammunition they used, who witnessed their training, etc. They will also be able to attach pictures to their logs. I attach pictures of my targets so that I can log the shot groupings as well.
